Feb. 20,2009 relay for life tournament

Ok guys i need some help. the relay for life apporached us to help them with their tournament on feb. 20th. they want to hold a clinic for beginners before the tournament starts and i need some Volunteers to help with this. Also steve how many pencils do we have left? for they will be needing some pencils. I still have plenty of scorecards for them to use. they also want some of us to volunteer to help run it with them so anyone wanting to help please let me know. this will be a good step in getting our name out there

Gave Lance 200 pencils he should have them. I can help with the event.

thanks you two!! I appreciate your help. I talked to Joni yesterday at the store and she dropped off fliers for the upcoming event. She has registration set from 10-10:45 so im figuring we should all meet up at 8:45 a.m for we can set up the tent and what not. Im really looking forward to doing this and getting our name out there and promoting the sport.

I'll do the clinic and help run the tournament, just tell me what you want me to do

Just spoke with Joni re: the relay for life and she only has 10 people signed up so far...this is for a GREAT cause and it IS a tourney so make a point to sign up and donate the $25 bucks!!!
It sounded like a some people did not know this was a tourney and thought it was just for volunteer or beginners , however she states it is for everyone and ALL proceeds go to the American Cancer Society....please help!

Is there registration the day of? or do you have to register in advance? (if so, where?)

Yes, there is pre-reg. You can pick up the form from Curves on Racetrack, Key Chains Bike & Disc across from the post office in FWB, and Ace should have them as well. If you are going to want to be paired with someone you normally play with, there are 4 slots on the reg form and you can mail it or give it to Joni directly @ curves, or else you CAN sign up the day of the tourney. I only posted this because when she was in my store yesterday, she was worried @ the lack of participation thus far, so I told her I would post on here, and she was to go talk with Jeff yesterday. My little time playing in tournaments tells me that disc golfers like to sign up the day of the tournamnet. I will make it more notice able on the web site.
This is another reason we all need to get people on the forum - so it is easier to keep them informed.

Yes...I agree that "seasoned" disc golfers do sign up the day of...however, in order to get NEW people to this sport, and PROMOTE the Relay for Life Tourney... getting everyone the info is most important!!! Helping Joni @ Curves is the main objective... The people on the forum will be great if all pay and play....however, building the sport, getting disc golf in the community so NEW players will be as excited as we are, will be the absolute best. I like you am just a member. Have done every thing I can with the web site and forum to get the info. Jeff told me that he was asked just to help with the tournament not
put it on.

I will be doing the putting clinic - and will play after to support the tourney.
If you have any other ideas how I might help - I am all in!

this makes tournament number 4 in SN land dated for feb 20th this im sure will effect the attendance im sure there is more that i dont know about as well...what is the payout gonna be any players packs what div are offered

Joni @ Curves has all of the info on awards, door prizes, etc...... 862-9248.....but I also believe that Jeff @ Ace is who you would contact, as he is in charge of the ring of fire, etc.

these are the divisions that Joni has listed

juniors 12-17 years of age

novice womens

novice mens

experienced disc golf players
im assuming by that Joni means a open division.

As far as payout goes thats totally up to Joni I have no say over that or what its going to be. I do know that cash will not be given. it will all be in prizes.

as far as a player pack you will get a t-shirt

well joni needs to get on here an post whats going on i assumed that no cash was going to be given since its a charity but will they be giving plastic or tee shirts an coffee cups i dont want to sound like im hounding or nothing but this seems a little unorganized...if u offer a jr why cant a 8 or 10 year old play in it u have novice but no ams like i said b4 jeff i will donate my time for your clinic also i dont think i seen anything on the ecdgc site about it either im sure u will get more people if you post somthing on there too not to mention a donation in the clubs name im just trying to ask questions that some people might be thinking but not voicing
